THOMAS BALL
Tom is currently the Manager of the Planning and Technical Support Section of the Utah Division of Waste Management and Radiation Control in the Utah Department of Environmental Quality. Prior to becoming the manager of this section he spent over 23 years as a hazardous waste compliance inspector dealing with hazardous waste treatment, storage and disposal facilities as well as generators of hazardous waste. For 20 of his years with the Division Tom was the lead compliance inspector overseeing the chemical weapons destruction program at the Tooele Army Depot. As part of his duties Tom is the Emergency Response Coordinator for the Division and serves as one of the Department Duty Officers receiving calls anytime there is an incident within the State that threatens the environment. Tom also conducts training within the Division and for the regulated community and makes outreach presentations on behalf of the Division.
Tom has a BS degree in Electronics Engineering Technology from Weber State University with a minor in Computer Science.
Tom was born in Kannapolis, North Carolina, home of Dale Earnhardt for you NASCAR fans, and raised in Utah. Tom and his wife live in Bountiful and are the parents of three boys. Tom enjoys the outdoors and has spent a lot of time volunteering in the Boy Scouts of America. He enjoys skiing, hiking, traveling and hanging out at Bear Lake.
