Garth Howlett, PND Consulting Engineers (PND)
Garth Howlett, PE is a Principal and Senior Engineer for PND Consulting Engineers in
Anchorage Alaska. Garth has over 22 years’ experience as a design engineer in Civil
engineering, primarily in Marine, bridge, building and industrial engineering, specializing
in foundations and structures. These designs have been provided for a wide variety of
public entities, private owners and Value Engineering for Contractors.

Garth is currently the project engineer on the 10,000 foot coal trestle and offloading
facility at Tyonek Alaska in Cook Inlet, which is subject to both 40 foot tides and large
ice loads and is in one of the most seismically active areas of the country.

Garth has designed over 100 small to medium sized building structures, including the
Alaska Sea Life Center in Seward which he designed with Chuck Kenley, also a BYU
graduate. The Sea Life Center included a number of large tanks including the deepest
bird diving tank in the northern hemisphere, which had to be designed on a seismically
active site.

He has designed a number of bridge and dock structures with a variety of superstructure
and foundation systems. He has designed a number of bridge launch and erection systems
including a high line system.

Garth is a graduate of Brigham Young University with a BSCE and MSCE.
