Septeber 9th Announcements

Internship Seminar

If you completed an internship recently and would like to share your experiences with your fellow students by doing a short presentation in Seminar email us at byuasce@gmail.com This will count as one activity point!

Steel Bridge Meeting

There will be a meeting on September 16th immediately following the FE Reveiw. Meet in the Stepdown Lounge. Email steelbridge.byu@gmail.com with questions.

Help with the ASCE Homecoming Float!

Help showcase BYU Civil Engineering and ASCE to the community and alumni by helping with the float that will be entered in the Homecomming Parade. There will be a meeting on September 15th at 5:00 pm to start planning. Email David Palmer at dav.o.e.palmer@gmail.com with questions. Everyone is invited. If you have a truck and or trailer (or know how to get one) that we can use for the parade let us know.

ITE Opening Social

The ITE Opening Social is Friday Sept 10th (tomorrow) at 3:00 pm in the Stepdown Lounge. Come for free bbq, games, and fun.

Frontrunner Field Trip

ITE is sponsoring a fieldtrip to check out the Frontrunner commuter rail in Salt Lake. The trip will be on September 30th. We will meet in the Stepdown Lounge at 12:45. Sign up in the CE office.

Service Opportunities
Remember that the semester goes by fast and it’s best to get your service hours done early in the semester. If you have any ideas of possible service activities or would like to take charge of a particular service activity, please email the officers at byuasce@gmail.com.

Career Fair (Service Points)
Help out with the BYU career fair to gain service points and make valuable networks with professionals. It will be held September 21st (Tuesday) and September 22nd (Wednesday). Please sign up in room 242 CB. Remember to distinguish that you’ll be representing ASCE on the sign-up form.

FE Review
Dr. Richards will be holding a review session for CE En 421 & 424 in preparation for the FE Review. These will be held this Wednesday and Thursday at 5:00 pm in room _______.

T-Shirt Competition (Prize)
Come up with the best design for this year’s ASCE t-shirt and win $50! Designs must be submitted to the CE secretaries by Oct. 1st.

Opening Social
The ASCE opening social will be on Thursday, September 16th from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm. Cost will be $3 per person and this MUST be paid for in advance at the CE office since no cash can be accepted at the event. ASCE members will pay $2. Pizza and J-Dawgs will be provided. Activities include a volleyball tournament, bocci ball, frisbee, and much more.

Seminar Drawing (Prize)
If you follow ASCE news on Twitter, Facebook, or its new blog, you will be in a drawing to win a prize given each seminar. Become a follower of BYU ASCE on Twitter (http://www.twitter.com/byuasce) or become a fan on Facebook to be eligible. Also check back on this blog for info on how to win.

ASCE Membership
If you are not a member, need to renew your membership, or don’t know what ASCE is, talk to the secretaries in the CE office or sign up online at http://www.et.byu.edu/groups/byuasce/. Rates will be as follows: $5/year for 1st time seminar students and $7/semester or $10/year for returning students.
